It is usually referred to as a barrel of brent. It has a capacity of 159 litres, and its price serves as a reference for the rest of the world´s oil. It is electronically traded on the market called Intercontinental Exchange. The characteristic when trading with this good is that it makes future. What does this mean? That oil traded today, will reach consumers within a month. This type of oil is characterized as sweet ligth crude oil. The caloric value of this oil is less than the West Texas. This is the benchmark for the U.S. market.
