7. No te explayes

How to be successful in summer job interviews

06/06/2015 | Europa Press – Europa Press English

When summertime comes around the number of job offers for support positions increases dramatically. The majority of those job offers come from hospitality or tourism positons since this sector´s activity increases considerably during the summer months, which means if you´re looking for employment this summer, these 10 pieces of advice to triumph in the interviews are for you.

1. Organize your time
Organize your time to be able to go to the interview and avoid any gestures or hurried attitudes to get out of there during the middle of it. Even though you may be the best candidate, that kind of attitude could make a good job opportunity slip away.

2. The importance of the first impression
Always remember the importance the first few moments have when arriving to the interview room. Maintain an upright posture, a friendly demeanor and an energy level that´s in accordance with the setting. To do that, keenly observe your surroundings, breathe ease and think that the person most interested in meeting up is the recruiter.

3. Be aware of the layout
The layout we see in terms of the space at the interview, although rarely said, is always a factor that speaks volumes in the first impression. Therefore, when sitting down, try to look for a place to set your personal objects down without setting them on your knees. Good space management will reinforce the appearance of being secure.

4. Turn in what you´ve been asked to
If they´ve asked for a CV for your interview, don´t wait for them to ask for i
t.
The same as with a business card, make sure you have it on hand and it´s the first thing you hand in when starting. It will be seen as a very professional gesture by the interviewer.

5. Maintain a formal tone
Showing off you fashion sense is not a bad idea but just remember that for an interview the type of communicative message should be formal and free of written statement so as to avoid falling into a conversation that distracts from the important information about the candidate.

6. Provide a response to what´s needed
It´s really important as a candidate to talk about the needs of the job that´s vacant. To do that, you should have previously analyzed not just your own experience but also identify you strengths and what added value you can bring to post you´re opting for. In that way, you´ll keep the interview better focused and your responses will contain more complete and valuable content.

7. Don´t talk too much
When you have ample experience, you most likely have the capability to carry out different types of jobs. However, this doesn´t mean you should elaborate on everything you know during an interview because you might lose the opportunity to highlight the best qualities you have to do the job you´re interviewing for.

8. Ask questions and show curiosity
Jobs always have their own peculiarities in every company. That means it´s important to ask questions and show curiosity and attentiveness about the special characteristics of the tasks the job requires, as well as the amount of responsibility that´s necessary to carry them out. A strong, focused level of interest always is appreciated by the interviewer.

9. Identify potential customers
It´s more and more common for customers to demand personalized types of services since this is becoming a differentiating trait for companies. That means it´s a good idea to correctly identify the type of consumer your brand is meant for. From that perspective, use it to defend your knowledge and skills. Without a doubt, it will help you have a better flow to you interview.

10. Show conviction
The possibilities of getting a job are always increased if you can make it so your convictions reinforce what you´re able to do and especially if they accompany you in your determination to get what you´re after.
