Three out of four Spanish investors put the end of the crisis within three years

10/12/2014 | Europa Press – Europa Press English

Three out of four investors put the end of the crisis within three years, according to survey created by JP Morgan Asset Management, which shows that Spanish investor confidence has been positive for the last four consecutive quarters.

The survey shows that the confidence index between July and September is at 1.08 points, which is similar to the 1.14 points the quarter before. The figure for the previous quarter showed Spanish investor expectations not seen since 2007, which confirms the positive tendency that started at the end of last year.

The improvements in the economy made 29.6% of those surveyed think the market will go up in the upcoming months and half of the sample believe it will stay at today´s current levels. Meanwhile, 20.4% of investors think it´s likely or very likely that stock markets go down over the next few months and reach a minimum from when the survey was carried out.

Spanish investors who take in to account the economic crisis as a factor when carrying out their operations are at a minimum -25.9%- which is down 5 points from last quarter. Almost equal to that is the 25.4% of those surveyed that look at interest rates and the Euribor when making their decisions, which is up five points compared to the previous quarter.

Deposits and savings accounts fall
Worries over the evolution of yield is reflected in the answers concerning investors´ intentions over the next six months. Deposits and savings accounts are still the favorite product, but they´ve fallen to 60.2%, around 6 points lower than between April and June and are at their lowest level since 2009.

The products that have benefited the most from this fall in deposits are investment funds and pension plans or funds. As for the funds, they continue to hold investors´ favor, going up 1.3 points to 4%, their highest mark since 2010.

These data seem to indicate a gradual change in investor behavior, who are ready to diversify the instruments they chose and to reduce the number of products in their portfolio (except assets) that offer low interest rates in the search for higher yields.

European stock markets, growing the most
The survey shows that European stock markets have become the ones with the most potential to grow in the near future. Specifically, 22.1% of those surveyed think there will be advances, compared to 18.6% who think it will be the Spanish indices that will grow the most. On the contrary, investors see a fall in Asian markets, dropping three points down to 17.1%, going from the first position down to the third position.

According to the survey, one third of those who think the market will go up believe the reason for this is that there are improvements taking place currently. Among the pessimists who think markets will go down, 51.6% cite the crisis, which is 13 points less than the previous quarter and is at a historic minimum.
