El último año de universidad suele presentarse como el más difícil, en el que tendrás que combinar tus estudios, acudir a clase, realizar el trabajo de fin de grado y enfrentarte al primer contacto con el mundo laboral. Pero bien es cierto que la situación actual –en la que salir de la carrera no siempre conlleva dar el salto al mercado laboral— hará que muchos de los que os encontréis en el último año de universidad os sintáis algo perdidos y sin tener demasiado claro qué hacer cuando acabéis. Si te encuentras en esta situación y tienes dudas sobre si lo mejor es seguir formándote o completar tus estudios en otro país o encontrar un trabajo acorde con tus aptitudes y conocimientos, puedes tomar nota y aplicar estos consejos de las expertas en coaching educativo del Instituto Europeo de Coaching, Carolina Ripoll y Carmen Roldán; y de la directora de Gestión del Talento en Adecco, Nuria Esparza. Planifica tu futuro Las expertas en coaching educativo Carolina Ripoll y Carmen Roldán aconsejan «tomarse un tiempo razonable» para valorar cuál es el paso siguiente más adecuado «teniendo en cuenta las potencialidades propias y las características de la carrera estudiada». Enfoca tu trayectoria profesional Esparza considera esencial reducir las posibles carencias que haya entre tu candidatura y la demanda laboral, ampliando el conocimiento de idiomas, el manejo de programas informáticos o con formación que complemente a tus estudios. Por su parte Ripoll y Roldán apuntan que seguir estudiando es «la oportunidad de seguir ganando conocimientos» dentro de tu ámbito. No obstante, también consideran imprescindible ir ganando experiencia a través de «pequeñas incursiones prácticas» a nivel laboral. La mejor opción Las profesionales del Instituto Europeo de Coaching advierten que, aunque la idea de salir fuera de España «está de moda», hay que tener en cuenta «los problemas y dificultades» con los que te puedes encontrar. «Cada uno debe tomar su propia decisión, teniendo en cuenta sus circunstancias y los recursos de los que dispone». Para la directora de Gestión del Talento en Adecco la mejor opción se identifica «revisando las ofertas del sector y de las empresas» donde te gustaría trabajar y valorando lo que se demanda. Asimismo, expone que hay que tener en cuenta los requisitos que exigen, los que indicará si debes aumentar tu formación. Acceder al mundo laboral Acceder al mercado laboral requiere destacar sobre el resto de candidatos. Por ello, destacan la importancia elaborar una buena carta de presentación y presentar un currículo bien preparado, donde queden muy claras tus «aptitudes y talentos». La falta de experiencia laboral se puede sustituir destacando tu «proactividad, capacidad de trabajo en equipo y adecuación al ámbito laboral de la empresa en concreto». Asimismo, desde Adecco aconsejan contar con aptitudes complementarias a la formación y destacarlas en nuestro currículum como pueden ser la realización de Erasmus en el extranjero, la dirección de grupos en algún curso o haber participado en voluntariados. «Todas ellas suelen aportar desarrollos competenciales que son muy valorados en las empresas, como el trabajo en equipo, la autonomía o el liderazgo», ha señalado. |

The last year of university is usually the hardest, during which you´ll have to combine studying with going to class, doing your final project and facing your first contact with the working world. What´s actually true nowadays is that finishing your degree is not always synonymous with jumping right into the job market and will make many of you in your last year in college feel a bit lost and not knowing what to do when you finish. If you find yourself in this situation and are having doubts over whether it´s better to keep studying, complement your studies in another country or find a job that´s in line with your skills and knowledge, you can take note here and put these pieces of advice to use from educational coaching experts at the European Coaching Institute, Carmen Ripoll and Carmen Roldán; and from the head of Talent Management at Adecco, Nuria Esparza. Plan your future The experts in educational coaching Carolina Ripoll and Carmen Roldán say you should “take some time” to evaluate what´s the best next step to take “keeping in mind the potential and characteristics of the degree you´ve studied”. Give your profesional career focus Esparza believes it´s essential to reduce the possible gaps between your candidacy and the market demand by increasing your knowledge of foreign languages, your skills with computer programs or extra training that compliments your studies. Ripoll and Roldán added that to keep studying is “the opportunity to continue gaining knowledge” within your field. However, they also think it´s really important to start gaining experience with “small, practical steps” into the labor market. The best option The professionals at the European Coaching Institute warn that while the idea of leaving Spain “is in style”, you have to take into account “the problems and difficulties” you could have once there. “Everyone should make their own decisions considering their own circumstances and the resources they have available,” they said. For the Head of Talent Management at Adecco, the best option is found by “looking at the job offers in the sector and from different companies” where you´d like to work and to evaluate the demand. Furthermore, she says you have to consider the requirements they´re demanding, which will tell you if you need to increase your skills. Accessing the job market Accessing the labor market requires being able to stand out from the rest of the candidates. To do that, they say it´s important to create a good cover letter and to present a well-prepared résumé that shows your “skills and talents”. The lack of job experience can be substituted by showing your “pro-activeness, capacity for team work and your fit within the specific company´s workplace”. Additionally, Adecco says you should spell out your complimentary skills to your training and make them stand out on your CV, such as a study abroad program, being a team leader in a class or having volunteered. “Any of those usually show the development of skills that are highly valued by companies, such as teamwork, autonomy or leadership,” she said. |
